Data science and AI course fees in India vary enormously — and the headline price is frequently not what you end up paying. This is a straight guide to what things cost in 2026, what actually drives the price, and how to tell whether a course is worth the money.
Typical fee ranges in 2026
Broadly, data science and AI training in India falls into tiers:
- Self-paced online courses: ₹5,000–₹40,000. Cheap, but low completion rates and little support.
- Live cohort bootcamps: ₹40,000–₹1,50,000. Mentor-led, structured, with projects — the sweet spot for most career switchers.
- University-badged / PG programs: ₹1,50,000–₹4,00,000+. The brand name is much of what you pay for.
What actually drives the price
- 1Live instruction vs recordings — real mentor time is the biggest cost, and the biggest driver of whether you finish.
- 2Cohort size — a class of 20 costs more to run than 500, and you get far more attention.
- 3Placement & career support — genuine hiring networks and interview prep add real cost (and value).
- 4Brand — a university or well-marketed name adds a premium that isn't always matched by better teaching.
The hidden charges to watch for
This is where the advertised fee and the real fee diverge. Before you pay, ask:
- Is GST included, or added on top? 18% GST on a ₹1,00,000 course is ₹18,000 you didn't budget for.
- Are there separate charges for certification, exams, or "placement modules"?
- Is the price gated behind a call? If they won't publish it, there's usually a reason.
- Does EMI carry interest? "0% EMI" and "EMI available" are very different things.
If a provider won't show you the full, all-inclusive price on their website, treat that as information in itself.
How to judge value for money
Cheapest isn't best, and most expensive isn't either. Weigh:
- Live hours and cohort size — how much real teaching and attention do you get?
- Who teaches — working practitioners or full-time trainers reading slides?
- Projects you ship — a portfolio is what actually gets you hired, not a certificate.
- Outcome support — real interview access, not vague "placement assistance" language.
- Total transparency — the all-in number, in writing, before you commit.
